Remembering Michael Jackson-The King of Pop

On the year anniversary of his death, fans of pop icon Michael Jackson assemble around the world to celebrate his life. One popular gathering place for paying tribute to Jackson is Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles, California, which houses the star's exclusive mausoleum. Barricades have been set up in anticipation of the sizeable number of Jackson fans set to arrive on Friday, and hundreds of photos, drawings and other tributes have already appeared at his grave site.

Jackson died June 25, 2009, at the age of 50, following suffering from propofol poisoning at the hands of his private physician, Dr. Conrad Murray. Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death. The legal case is ongoing.

Jackson's family is said to be operating as ambassadors to Michael's memorial services around the U.S. Jackson's mother Katherine is said to be at her son's birthplace in Gary, Indiana, on Friday. Brother Randy Jackson has plans to emcee the official family commemoration at Forest Lawn that same day.

Others close to Michael are also planning their own tributes; Reverend Al Sharpton is said to be holding a moment of silence at the exact time of Jackson's death, and performers Christina Aguilera, LL Cool J and smokey Robinson will make appearances on the CBS Early Show to share personal stories about Jackson.
